Types of torque wrenches

 

It is important to know what a torque wrench is before we discuss the types of torque wrenches available in the industry. A torque wrench is used to either tighten or loosen a fastener (bolt or nut) by applying the right amount of torque on it. As Newton’s 3rd law states, every action requires an equal and opposite reaction, applying the high value of torque, the wrenches would require a reaction arm to lock itself at an adjacent point.

Nut splitter

Before we talk about the benefits of hydraulic nut splitters and how to operate them safely, we will understand the different types of nut splitters available. There are three types of nut splitters- C-Frame Nut Splitter, Ring Frame Manual Nut Splitter, and Hydraulic Nut Splitter.

C-Frame nut splitters offer the least safety as the frame does not offer protection from flying particles when the nut is being cut. The Ring Frame nut splitter’s design offers protection from flying particles. However, they are labor-intensive and may affect project completion time. Hydraulic nut splitters complete jobs faster with less manpower.
